CAR PARK
Competitors may use the main car park. An overflow car parking facility is available before you cross the railway line. The Scottish Golf Union and Western Gailes Golf Club cannot accept responsibility for any damage to cars. Please obey the instructions of the car park attendant who will be on duty Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

CATERING
Catering will be available in Western Gailes GC’s clubhouse as follows:
Saturday 23 July There will be no catering available. Drinks will be available from the Bar.
Sunday 24 July 7:30am - 5:30pm
Monday 25, Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 July 6:00am – close of play
Thursday 28 and Friday 29 7:15am – close of play
Saturday 30 July 7:30am – 5.30pm
All catering is at the competitor's expense.

CLUBHOUSE
The clubhouse will open one hour before the first tee-time each day. Competitors and their guests may use the clubhouse facilities. Please obey the instructions of the clubhouse door attendant.

Casual wear is acceptable but must be smart. THE WEARING OF HEADGEAR, JEANS, DENIM TROUSERS, SLEEVELESS OR COLLARLESS SHIRTS, SHELL SUITS AND TRAINING SHOES IS NOT PERMITTED. Tailored shorts worn with knee length socks are permitted. Soft spikes are permitted throughout the clubhouse with the exception of the Members Lounge. Jacket and tie must be worn in the Members' Lounge.

MOBILE PHONES ARE PROHIBITED IN THE CLUBHOUSE AND ON THE COURSE.

Changing facilities and showers are available in the Gents locker rooms. Players intending using the showers are advised to bring their own towel. There are a limited number of security lockers available for hire.

CADDIE CARS, YARDAGE BOOKS AND CADDIES
Yardage books can be purchased from the Bar or Golf Shop at the cost of £5. Trollies are available for hire on a “first come first serve” basis at the cost of £4 per round. A limited number of caddies are available if booked in advance by telephoning the Caddiemaster on: 01294 311649.

COURSE & PLAY
Competitors must register at the Championship Office at least 30 minutes prior to their starting time. Starting times are shown on the official draw sheet.

THE WEARING OF JEANS, DENIM TROUSERS, SHORTS, SLEEVELESS OR COLLARLESS SHIRTS, SHELL SUITS, AND TRAINING SHOES IS NOT PERMITTED. Tailored shorts are permitted if worn with knee length socks.

Each competitor will be issued with the local rules, pin positions, pace of play guidelines, insurance certificate and a bag tag when registering.

COMPETITORS MUST REPORT TO THE OFFICIAL STARTER AT THE 1st TEE 5 MINUTES BEFORE THEY ARE DUE TO PLAY. Competitors are reminded that late arrival at the 1st tee will result in disqualification as no provision has been made under Rule 6-3.

When a match is over, play must stop and the winner report the result without undue delay to the official Recorder situated in the SGU Championship Office.

ETIQUETTE
In the interests of all, players should play without delay, leave a bunker as you would expect to find them, replace divots and repair pitch marks.

INSURANCE
The entry fee includes cover in respect of the competitor’s legal liability in the event of causing injury to another person or damage to third party property. An excess of £15 applies.

PRACTICE
The club has very kindly granted courtesy of the course for one practice round prior to the Championship, which must be booked in advance by preferably e-mailing enquiries@westerngailes.com stating your desired tee-time and contact telephone number. In the event you do not have access to e-mail bookings may be made by telephoning on 01294 311649. Practice times are available on Saturday 23 July from 2.00 to 4.30pm and on Sunday 24 July from 8.00am to 3.50pm. Practice times will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Competitors unable to practice during the official practice times may be able to arrange an alternative time by prior arrangement with the Club by telephoning on 01294 311649 and will be subject to availability. Additional practice rounds will be charged at £120 (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or £125 (between 3.30pm and 4.30pm a Saturday or between 2.30pm and 4.00pm on a Sunday – except the official practice days as outlined above). The course is reserved exclusively for members on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

NB: Demand for practice times on Sunday 24 July is expected to be extremely high therefore competitors local to Western Gailes are respectfully asked and encouraged to utilise the practice times on Saturday 23 July.

General Practice Conditions
Competitors must report to the Starter's Box prior to commencing practice round. Competitors may play from the Championship tees.

Other than in accordance with the Rules of Golf, a competitor in a practice round must not have more than one ball in play - exception - if a player misses the green with his shot to the green he may play one additional shot.

PRACTICE GROUND
The main practice ground is at Glasgow GC, Gailes which is approximately 5 minutes drive from the Clubhouse. Transport between the practice ground at Glasgow GC, Gailes and Western Gailes GC will be each individuals responsibility.

PLEASE NOTE: In view of the short distance involved from the Practice Ground and Clubhouse it is each players responsibility to ensure they allow enough time.

Practice balls will be available free of charge. PRACTICE BALLS MUST NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE RANGE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. A player seen taking balls will be liable to disciplinary action by the Championship Committee.

Players must not hit balls over the practice ground boundary. Players must only use the practice balls provided.

At busy periods there maybe limited bays for practice and priority will be given to players practicing 40 minutes prior to their start time. The Range Attendant whose instructions must be obeyed at all times will administer this.

Outwith these times competitors are not permitted to use the practice ground at Glasgow GC, Gailes. For alternative practice facilities see below.

Players may use the short game practice area at Glasgow GC, Gailes but must play from within the green staked area.

There is also a short game practice area at Western Gailes GC to the left of the first hole. Players wishing to use this area may do so but will be required to supply own balls.

The practice putting greens at Western Gailes GC are available for practice putting only i.e. COMPETITORS ARE PROHIBITED FROM CHIPPING ONTO OR AROUND THESE GREENS.

Alternative practice facilities are available at North Gailes - for enquiries please call 01294 316090.

In addition practice facilities are available at The Bob Torrance School of Golf at the National Sports Centre in Largs where a Day Pass (£5 per day) or Tournament Pass (£12 for 24 – 30 July inclusive) can be purchased from the main reception. The National Sports Centre can be found at Inverclyde, Burnside Road, Largs, KA30 8RW. Competitors will be responsible for the supply and collection of their own practice balls at this facility. Marshalling will be in place for the week, ensuring safe usage of the golf facility. Competitors using any of the above practice facilities do so at their own risk.

PRESENTATION
Bronze medals will be presented to the losing Semi-Finalists at the close of play on Friday 29 July. The Championship trophy and Finalist medals will be presented at the close of play on Saturday 30 July. Medal winners are expected to attend the relevant prizegiving.

RANKINGS
The Scottish Amateur Championship is an R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking event and counts towards the SGU Order of Merit.

RESPONSIBILITY
Western Gailes Golf Club and the Scottish Golf Union do not accept responsibility for players’ property during the Championship or on the days when practice is permitted.

DIRECTIONS

From the South follow M74 to junction 8. Take A71 to Irvine. At Warrix Interchange take left for Ayr and Troon to Newhouse Interchange then bear right for Harbourside. Western Gailes Golf Club is situated on Marine Drive.

From the North follow M77/A77 to Kilmarnock Bellfield Interchange. Take A71 for Irvine then directions as above.
